From Darkness to Light: An Accordion Journal Journey

As winter fades and the light begins to return, we’ll explore the beautiful space between darkness and renewal through mixed media, collage and mark-making.

In this four-hour art-making experience, you’ll create your own accordion journal - a small unfolding book that becomes both your canvas and your companion throughout the workshop. Working intuitively with layered papers, paint, colour, texture, found imagery and expressive marks, you’ll move through a visual journey from the quiet, still depths of winter toward the energy, colour and possibility of spring.

There is no right or wrong way to create. We’ll play with materials, experiment with marks, layer and transform, allowing each page to reveal something new. Your accordion journal will become a personal landscape of darkness giving way to light—a place to capture what you’re releasing, what is emerging, and what you’re ready to welcome as the season changes.

Come with an open mind, curious hands and a willingness to play. No previous art experience is necessary—only a desire to explore.

Mixed Media Journaling (14+)

Date: Sat, Sep 19 • 10:00 AM –2:00 PM
This workshop invites participants to explore art journalling as a creative and reflective practice. We will create our own journal with bookbinding techniques, then with guided prompts, mixed media exploration, and intuitive mark-making, participants will create meaningful, layered pages that reflect their personal voice. The focus is on process, not perfection – encouraging curiosity, play and self-expression in a supportive environment.

Adults (14+) of all skill levels, creatives seeking inspiration, and anyone interested in personal expression or creative exploration. No prior experience is necessary! Material provided.
